Welcome!

Welcome to gardening in the real world. This blog is about gardening in the dirt and gardening in the soul. The dirt that I garden in is located in Northern Illinois, Zone 5 flirting with Zone 4. I'm a believer in a realistic point of view in gardening and in life - if it's too hard or too expensive, too many people won't do it. This will be my place to share my thoughts, advice and experiences as I garden, do restoration work and journal in my little slice of the real world.

About Me

My photo
Marlene Frisbie
I've been working for wholesale perennial nurseries for twenty years, been involved in ecological restoration for almost as long, and have had a love of gardening most of my life. I give presentations on perennials and gardening, and as of now I write about these topics also. One audience member told me, "I love your presentations; you make it seem so real." So here we are.
